But chorus does provide that subtle shimmer and spatial quality that can be cool, especially if you can hook it up to a couple amps for a true stereo effect. It just has a warmer more organic feel to it. It's interesting that the JC only has 1 setting on its chorus. But in the room I'm in right now, my ToneLab goes thru a Roland Jazz Chorus (JC) 120 amp and that has a better chorus tone.

VS AUDIO Alchemy BBD Chorus compact effect pedal is a 100 analog chorus, designed around a. (But the amp and cabinet modeling make that unit completely worthwhile) But on it, the phaser is possibly more fun than its chorus or flanger, but that unit is not a great piece to make those kind of judgments on since the parameters are rather limited. And actually its dsp modulation effects aren't all that great. I was just playing around with my Vox ToneLab desk top model.
